With the world rejoicing in the technological light of faster and smaller machines, it’s no wonder that the PlayStation Portable, or PSP, has taken the world over by storm. Both children and adults alike are bursting into stores to get their hands on these wonders of the gaming world, but PSP games are not the only reason people want to own these handheld systems. They are a virtual multimedia system in which users can watch movies, listen to music, watch videos, store and look at pictures, and even use as a portable TV. Camera is not included yet but in the future we can expect cameras same as Canon 60D or similar. The movies, called UMD movies, are not quite blue ray quality, but they still provide good resolution. According to many sources, blu ray movies will soon be transferable to the PSP system.
The PlayStation Portable is not only a handheld gaming and multimedia console, but it bolsters the ability to connect to the Internet. This feature literally puts the ability to surf the web in the hands of the PSP user. The different World Wide Web features available on the PSP are abundant. Skype can be used to talk with anyone in the world. Another of the amazing gaming features allow users the ability to connect to their PlayStation 3 at home. Gamers can access their PS3 from anywhere in the world through their PSP using an Internet connection.
The system offers a virtual bounty of PSP games for kids of all ages. From family games with the Everyone rating to the hardcore violence of games rated as Mature, the PSP offers almost as many games as any other gaming console including games for the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft’s X-Box 360, or the big brother of the PSP, the Sony PlayStation 3. Playing Xbox 360 video games is different since the PSP offers the ability for gamers to play their PS3 from a remote location, the number of PSP games in almost unimaginable.
One of the newest games for teenagers is Dragonball Evolution which came out on April 10, 2009. This game coincides with an upcoming film that features characters of Dragonball Z fame. In the game, players search for the seven Dragon Balls that have the power to grant wishes. Featured in the storyline is the legendary character of Goku.
Another new release for the PSP is Hammerin’ Hero. This game, for everyone ten and older, follows the adventures of Gen who must fight off an evil construction company from evicting his neighbors. Gen, a carpenter by trade, ha. 22s to perform copious amounts of special jobs to defeat the villainous Hyosuke Kuromoku.
Although the PlayStation Portable may not feature high definition movies such as blu ray yet, the amount of multimedia action and PSP games make the system an asset in the gaming world
