A business owner will want to choose a device that enhances his or her productivity. An owner should be able to complete a majority of the same tasks on the smartphone as he or she can complete on a desktop terminal. The key is to find something almost identical to a full-fledged unit, but small enough to carry around to various locations. Before any businessperson chooses a smartphone device, he or she should consider several features.

Email is one business necessity. A business sends and receives hundreds of e-mails every day. E-mail is the main form of communication between businesses and clients. Therefore, the perfect smartphone should have an efficient, secure, user-friendly e-mail platform. A business owner who is looking for e-mail capabilities as a high-priority feature can review various business phones at BlackBerry.com.

A person looking for a smartphone to conduct business operations will want to make sure the device has video conference call capabilities. Professionals have many telephonic and video meetings to attend. Video conferencing is now a common feature that is becoming extremely popular in the business world. The customer’s selected smartphone should have the video feature and be capable of downloading a conferencing application.

Screen size is also an important factor when choosing the right smartphone for business. The owner will want to choose a device with a large screen and a bright display. He or she may need to perform a considerable amount of web browsing, e-mail typing and note writing. Having a large display makes business operations run smoothly. A person can choose from several devices that fit all the previously stated criteria.

We know no one’s hanging out around the house anymore nowadays. Everyone’s active, but so is your satellite. In a way, you’re the satellite with the way streaming has gone from the hands of Internet based outlets to satellite programming providers.

Satellite media isn’t making a comeback, it’s already taken over the way people get their information on the go with outlets like http://www.direct.tv/ delivering content to mobile devices on command. Now, anyone can get their programming fix at anytime and anyplace.

Who needs to stream a viral video when you can stream your favorite movie or TV show? How about that football game you don’t want to miss that just so happens to be on at the same time as the neighbor kid’s birthday? If the party’s not streaming to your hand held mobile device the game sure is.

With satellite media being delivered on demand, companies are going to have to change the way they’ve used satellites in the past or play catch up with the leaders of this digital revolution, and the companies aren’t the only ones who’ll pay in the end.

Giving customers access to home setups and packages on the go breaks the tether from the nest and let’s you get out and live a little. Who says you’ve got to be glued to your TV at a certain time every night to enjoy an entire season of a show. With satellite streaming, access to home devices is also available, and you can record with the press of a button on your tablet or mobile phone.

You remember those huge satellites in back yards? Me either. The new satellite is handheld and it goes where you do and gives you what you want when you want it.

When working in large companies issues can go unnoticed and can develop into larger problems because they are not being addressed. By taking frequent surveys these problems can be caught and solved quickly.

When a supervisor finds that his department may not be running as smoothly as hoped for it may be time to pull out the 360 review. By asking all the employees that are members of the department to participate and also having members of higher management to participate and the supervisor themselves should take the survey.

Once the survey has been administered it is time to gather all the data and place it together so that the surveys can be compared and analyzed. By placing the surveys side by side it allows for the weaknesses to be recognized more easily. If the weakness is strong then it will stand out in all the surveys that are conducted. This is also a great way to find the strengths of the company and offers an opportunity for management to have positive feedback for the employees rather than dwelling on the negative.

A 360 survey is a great tool to help run a successful company. By being able to pinpoint problems before they escalate in major issues it helps a company become strong. Companies are as strong as their employees are dedicated to making it strong. When the workers feel they are being heard and every mean possible is being made to make the work place a positive situation the better and more committed work will be done. If good supervisors are set into departments and are actively working to get to know everyone on their team they can be quick to notice problems. The same goes for being quick to point out the positive work habits of the employees.

New NASA Map Reveals Patterns Of Tropical Forest Carbon Storage

(NASA May 31, 2011)

WASHINGTON — A NASA-led research team has used a variety of NASA satellite data to create the most precise map ever produced depicting the amount and location of carbon stored in Earth’s tropical forests. The data are expected to provide a baseline for ongoing carbon monitoring and research and serve as a useful resource for managing the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.

The new map, created from ground- and space-based data, shows for the first time the distribution of carbon stored in forests across more than 75 tropical countries. Most of that carbon is stored in the extensive forests of Latin America.

“This is a benchmark map that can be used as a basis for comparison in the future when the forest cover and its carbon stock change,” said Sassan Saatchi of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., who led the research. “The map shows not only the amount of carbon stored in the forest, but also the accuracy of the estimate.” The study was published May 30 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Deforestation and forest degradation contribute 15 to 20 percent of global carbon emissions, and most of that contribution comes from tropical regions. Tropical forests store large amounts of carbon in the wood and roots of their trees. When the trees are cut and decompose or are burned, the carbon is released to the atmosphere.

Previous studies have estimated the carbon stored in forests on local and large scales within a single continent, but there existed no systematic way of looking at all tropical forests. To measure the size of the trees, scientists typically use a ground-based technique, which gives a good estimate of how much carbon they contain. But this technique is limited because the structure of the forest is extremely variable and the number of ground sites is very limited.

To arrive at a carbon map that spans three continents, the team used data from the Geoscience Laser Altimeter System lidar on NASA’s ICESat satellite. The researchers looked at information on the height of treetops from more than 3 million measurements. With the help of corresponding ground data, they calculated the amount of above-ground biomass and thus the amount of carbon it contained.

The team then extrapolated these data over the varying landscape to produce a seamless map, using NASA imagery from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on NASA’s Terra spacecraft, the QuikScat scatterometer satellite and the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission.

The map reveals that in the early 2000s, forests in the 75 tropical countries studied contained 247 billion tons of carbon. For perspective, about 10 billion tons of carbon is released annually to the atmosphere from combined fossil fuel burning and land use changes.

The researchers found that forests in Latin America hold 49 percent of the carbon in the world’s tropical forests. For example, Brazil’s carbon stock alone, at 61 billion tons, almost equals all of the carbon stock in sub-Saharan Africa, at 62 billion tons.

“These patterns of carbon storage, which we really didn’t know before, depend on climate, soil, topography and the history of human or natural disturbance of the forests,” Saatchi said. “Areas often impacted by disturbance, human or natural, have lower carbon storage.”

The carbon numbers, along with information about the uncertainty of the measurements, are important for countries planning to participate in the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) program. REDD+ is an international effort to create a financial value for the carbon stored in forests. It offers incentives for countries to preserve their forestland in the interest of reducing carbon emissions and investing in low-carbon paths of development.

The map also provides a better indication of the health and longevity of forests and how they contribute to the global carbon cycle and overall functioning of the Earth system. The next step in Saatchi’s research is to compare the carbon map with satellite observations of deforestation to identify source locations of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere.

WASHINGTON — NASA will host a media teleconference at 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday, June 9, to discuss a new computer model that shows the edge of our solar system is not smooth, but filled with a turbulent sea of magnetic bubbles.

Based on Voyager data, the finding suggests we need to revise our picture of this previously unexplored region so critical for understanding how cosmic rays are created and reach near-Earth space. Galactic cosmic rays are of concern for human space travel, in particular during the quiet periods called the solar minimum.

The year 2012 has finally arrived. On December 21 at 21.12 o’clock, will, according to many people who believe the Mayan calendar, the world in its current form, perish. Why do many people believe that the world on that day will change a major? It is the ‘guilt’ of the Mayan Indian population, which has been extinct for ages.
2012 is the year that the world will end or at least the earth will endure a big change. The cyclical calendar of the Maya Tzolkin dates from a distant past. There you can read that the time ends in 2012. Then there is a new Sun On December 21, 2012 at 21.12 hours will begin. Although the recently was discovered that time can last as late in the year 2208 or 2220. There would be a mathematical error.

If the world perishes?
The creation date of the Mayan mythology, according to scientists is 11 August 3114 (BC). The counting of time, according to the great Mayan calendar ending on 21-12-2012. Supporters of eschatology thus came to the conclusion that the present world will perish on 21-12-2012.

Adreas Fuls is an earth scientist who in 2006 obtained his PhD at the Technical University of Berlin. He claims that the calculation is wrong. According to his own calculations, based on an ancient Mayan table, inscriptions and positions of Venus, he draws the conclusion that the 2012 date is wrong. The calendar runs in his only finished in 2208 and 1921 or 1922 or December 23. He does not believe that the Mayan apocalypse will happend as expected, but that the Maya would begin their new era. Other scientists have calculated that the only calendar ends in 2220. They do not belive that the world will end when the Mayan calendar says so.

December 21, 2012
Most people who believe in the end and the Mayan prophecy, still think that in 2012 will be over. On December 21, 2012 will be located in their one or more accidents take place, making the Earth in its present form perishes. People, animals and plants become extinct. This might be earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions can go. There would also be comets on the Earth could fall again. The worst case scenario where we are all happy. Still others believe that there will be a big change, but including the consciousness of humanity.

The world perishes in 2012 or 2208 or 2220? Whether it is true that the world will end in 2012 or later, or does not at all, of course, nobody knows with 100% security. In principle, because the world is always gone and we can not predict the future. Fortunately, most Mayan experts propose that the calendar and the religion of the Maya and misinterpreting the year 2012 for the Maya do not even mean much.

2012 and the Galactic Ecliptic
We know that there is some truth about 21 December 2012. If nothing will happen, we would have to wait for about another 200 years for something else to happen. If nothing happens again in 2208, then we know until 12 years later in the year 2220 something could. So, it is not all that bad. But how likely is it that the world will perish in 2012? Maya researcher John Major Jenkins is a rare galactic event linked to the expiry of the appropriate calendar of the Maya. On December 21 the alignment of the Sun takes place (on the day of the solstice) and the galactic equator in the plane of our galaxy. This is only once every 26,000 years and is very special place. In the movie Armageddon, Michael Bay offered a meteoric doomsday scenario that was narrowly averted. The previous times this happened, the earth did survive. The Galactic Ecliptic is sometimes called the equator of the Milky Way. According to the calendar of the Maya we go from fourth to fifth Sun In the Galactic Ecliptic is anything like galaxies, asteroids and planets. Gamma radiation is also higher there. Attractiveness and Gamma rays can end supporters in affecting our planet and the end of time will break or a new period has begun, which will undergo major changes people mentally. The Earth is the Galactic Ecliptic in the past many times through, so the probability that the world perish in 2012, is really not plausible.

End of end times and prophets
As long as people think they all fear the end of time. Fear of the unknown, natural forces, our own insignificance and the fear of death, convince people that there are gods or other forces of the world with us on it, destroy it. End-time prophets have probably always been there. In our time there doomsdayers. Doomsdayers are people who proclaim the end is near and that the end of today’s world soon to come. They are convinced, often from a religious conviction that the end of the world is near. The end is characterized usually by revenge or anger of a god who the evil conduct of mankind can no longer regard and decided to intervene with destruction, death and destruction. The mighty God will destroy all creation and all people and animals, good and evil, sweep away. Generally this god creates the world anew and put then perfect people, who no longer have wrong desires. It also appears that God makes an exception for the righteous. These are obviously the end-time prophets themselves. What happened in 2012 happened to be seen. Before then, the Katla volcano erupted, the economy is still in a bad condition, species will unfortunately die out by (among others) oil spills, etc. Still, just in case, I will spend evening of 12/21/2012, at 21.12 hours in front of the television!

The researchers captured individual calcium atoms, cooled down extremely – to a few millionths of a degree above absolute zero. Using lasers attached them quantum states of two atoms. The result is a quantum mechanical link, entanglement between the particles.
Then the scientists affiliated third atom in the same way with one of the other two particles. That was the third atom ‘input for the teleportation: When the quantum state of the atoms is changing with the input, the same changes also occurred in the remaining (output) atom.

First two atoms are entangled. Their states remain interact, even though they have lost touch. Then we prepare the input atom and intertwines with one of the members of the original pair. The state of the input atom is the link between the original atoms transferred to the output side: teleportation of information! The input and output atom are in fact identical conditions.

Although there is not actually a moving atom, physicists still speak of teleportation. The output from atom teleportation fact indistinguishable from the input atom. This is because all the properties of one particle the other took over. The atom itself is not moved, but everything he does create that atom at a different place.

Fact is that the atom appears somewhere else, so it is officially teleportation.
These results are a major step towards the quantum computer, which we will reach much faster than we hoped and communicate with the most advanced super computers.

If you want an uplifting film, you definitely need to pick up the newly released Harvey Milk DVD. This film centers on a politician of the same name. This man was the first openly gay man elected to a public office in the Untied States. Sean Penn plays him, James Franco plays one of his partners, and Josh Brolin serves up a deliciously complicated performance as Milk’s nemesis.

The Milk DVD is structured so that it opens with important archival footage about gay rights and life in the 1970s. Additionally, it begins with the announcement of Milk’s ultimate assassination and then flashes back to Milk’s 40th birthday part. From here, the film moves forward to the man’s tragic death.

Milk is a DVD that focuses as much on the politician’s life and background as it does on the politics and challenges of the time. Once elected to public office, Milk had to deal with colleagues wanting to ban gay individuals from serving in public office: this component plays a major role in the second half of the film. It is here that Milk’s determination shines through.

Recently released on DVD, it is a film that will leave people both heartbroken and uplifted and inspired. The story of this film centers on Smith’s Ben Thomas. This man has made some mistakes in the past, and to work through these mistakes, he now enters people’s life with the help of an IRS badge. As an agent, he offers people the chance to reverse their troubles.

During the course of the Seven Pounds DVD, Smith’s character meets seven people. However, it is when he meets Rosario Dawson’s character that things become a bit more complicated. This woman as heart trouble, and yet, Smith begins to fall in love with her. This is when the mystery and details of the Seven Pounds plot intensifies and thickens: To say anymore would ruin the many twists of the plot.

If you are looking for some fine acting by such greats as Barry Pepper and Woody Harrelson, you definitely need to check out Seven Pounds. Smith and Dawson also light up the screen and make the plot that much stronger because of their careful and nuanced performances.

Nikola Tesla was born on the 10th of July, 1856. His father, an Orthodox priest, demanded the most exacting values and thought processes from him. He had a mother whose creativity and resourcefulness inspired him to become an inventor. From his humble beginnings in the Croatian region, he came to New York and eventually became the man that history will refer to as the genius who brought in the modern twentieth century. There are many accolades to his name. He is considered as the Father of Modern Physics and the True Master of Electricity. He is the world’s most prolific inventor with about 300 patents all over the world.

With the rest of the world being confined by the rigid realism of the moment and of the immediate, Tesla saw and lived in the future. These visions of the future compelled his mind and his hands to produce the most crucial inventions of the twentieth century. One classic example was his invention of the alternating current. While working under Thomas Edison, he realized that supplying direct current (DC) electricity will only result in weakly lit bulbs. The DC powerhouses are inefficient and to have enough electric power, there should be a power station every two miles. Tesla’s vision of the future is a flow of electricity which is neither limited by distance nor crowded by power stations. Tesla went on to invent a system of generators, transformers, and motors that will supply a polyphase alternating current (AC). This type of electric current is more superior because it is not weakened by distance and it can supply high voltages.

Tesla continued to invent more gadgets, demonstrating to a scandalized 19th century scientific community that wireless communication is entirely possible. But Tesla was right. In the 21st century, wireless technology is key to communication. Undaunted by a skeptic world, Tesla continued to follow his visions, inventing gadgets and writing papers about advanced solar energy, wireless remote controls, anti-gravity, rocket engines, directed beams, robotics, and many other things that came to exist a century later.
